AlDente is a MacBook battery charging limiter app that helps users limit the battery’s charging range to a healthier range, thereby extending battery lifespan. The AlDente app has free and paid versions. The main features of the paid version include:
Charge Limiter
AlDente allows you to limit your MacBook from charging beyond a certain percentage. This not only reduces battery wear but also increases battery lifespan.
Discharge
This feature allows your MacBook to run entirely on battery even while plugged in. This way, you can actively discharge your MacBook to a healthier charge level.
Thermal Protection
Charging at high battery temperatures can cause the battery to degrade faster. With Thermal Protection enabled, charging automatically stops when the battery temperature gets too high.
Calibration Mode
Keeping the battery at a low percentage (e.g., 20-70%) for weeks without a full cycle can disrupt battery calibration. To avoid this, you only need to perform at least one full cycle per month. With Calibration Mode enabled, AlDente will perform a full cycle (15%-100%) on its own.
Sailing Mode
Normally, even with the Charge Limiter enabled, your MacBook battery will always be slightly charged and discharged to maintain the desired SoC. By enabling “Sailing Mode”, you can set a “sailing” range within which the battery will stay. For example: set Sailing Mode between 75% and 80%. After charging to 80%, AlDente will automatically let the battery fall back to 75% over time. Once it reaches 75%, it will charge again to 80%.
Hardware Battery Percentage
Don’t let macOS fool you — use the real hardware battery percentage reported by the battery management system.
Automatic Discharge
This new feature builds on the popular Discharge function. When the charging limit set in AlDente is lower than the current battery percentage, it automatically discharges the MacBook.
TOP UP
Planning to work for a long time without access to a power outlet? Don’t worry, with TOP UP enabled, AlDente will charge your battery to 100% just once.
Apple Shortcuts Support

Control MagSafe LED
This new feature brings AlDente Pro the ability to control the color of the MagSafe LED to better indicate the current charging status of your MacBook battery.
Stop Charging While Sleeping
With “Stop Charging While Sleeping” enabled, AlDente will pause charging before your MacBook goes to sleep. So charging will not continue even while it is sleeping.
Right Click
By right-clicking the AlDente Pro icon in the menu bar, you can pause and start charging. The first click changes the charging limit to the current battery percentage, and the second click changes the charging limit to 100%.
Discharge in Clamshell Mode

Live Status Icon
