Unfold is an application that can greatly enhance the built-in Quick Look feature on macOS. If your Mac cannot preview the contents of folders, archives, or code files when you press the spacebar, Unfold adds support for more than 250 file types to the system, allowing many files that macOS cannot preview by default to also be quickly viewed through Quick Look.
What can be previewed
- Folders: Displays the total size of all contents in a folder, not just a file list.
- Tabular data: Displays data as real table columns, instead of showing content as comma-separated text.
- Text files: Supports a large number of text formats that macOS cannot preview correctly by default or displays as blank.
- Compressed files: View the contents of RAR, 7z, and other archives directly without extraction.
- Source code: Supports syntax highlighting for multiple programming languages, including common languages as well as many more niche ones.
- LaTeX: Supports rendering display math formulas and inline math formulas.
- Markdown: Supports diagrams, math formulas, and provides a sidebar for quickly browsing and navigating documents via headings.
- Torrent files: View the contents and file sizes contained in torrent files without launching a BitTorrent client.
- Web archives: Saved webpage archive files can be rendered directly as complete web pages for preview.
- E-books and comics: Supports previewing e-book chapters, illustrations, comic archives, and more.
- Subtitles: View the text content in subtitle files in advance without opening the video.
- Applications (.app): Preview and understand the actual contents included in the application bundle without launching the app.
