WiFi Signal is a utility for real-time monitoring of Wi-Fi connection quality. It can display signal strength, noise, transmission rate, channel, and other information, and help diagnose wireless network problems.
The app runs in the background and displays key metrics for the current network directly in the menu bar. After clicking the menu bar icon, you can view more detailed connection information, charts, and notifications about network status changes.
Features
Detailed connection information
- Displays the network name (SSID), BSSID (MAC address of the access point), and device vendor information.
- Displays signal strength in dBm and percentage, noise level, and SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio).
- Displays band (2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz), channel number, and channel width (20 / 40 / 80 / 160 MHz).
- Displays transmission rate (Tx Rate), MCS index, and number of spatial streams (NSS).
Customizable menu bar display
- Fully customizable display template: You can choose which metrics to display and freely adjust their display order.
- Two-line display support: Lets you display more network data in the menu bar at the same time.
- Access point annotations: You can assign easy-to-recognize names to different access points, such as “Kitchen” or “Office,” for quick differentiation.
Real-time charts and monitoring
- Provides a separately displayable monitoring window for viewing signal strength, noise, SNR, and transmission rate charts.
- Intuitively evaluates the current Wi-Fi connection quality based on real-time measurement data.
Smart notifications and logs
- Sends notifications when the access point switches, the channel changes, or network speed drops.
- Provides an event log to help analyze network connection problems.
- Supports custom threshold alerts, such as a notification when “signal strength falls below -75 dBm.”
Channel recommendations
- Analyzes congestion in the current wireless band and recommends less crowded channels.
- Note that channel recommendations are based only on detectable Wi-Fi networks and do not take hidden interference sources into account.
Integration and compatibility
- Supports synchronizing access point annotations with WiFi Explorer / WiFi Explorer Pro from the same developer.
- Supports WPA3, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), and Wi-Fi 6E (compatible with the 6 GHz band on Mac).
- Supports Light and Dark themes, and can switch automatically following system settings.
