Filepane is a lightweight utility that turns ordinary file drag-and-drop operations into a powerful and efficient way to manage files. You don’t need to open multiple applications or perform complex steps in Finder. Just drag a file, and a compact action panel appears next to the cursor with relevant quick commands.

How It Works

Filepane is simple and intuitive to use:

• Start dragging: Drag any file, folder, image, PDF document, or even selected text.
• Show action area: When you start dragging, a small area labeled “Drop Here” appears next to the cursor.
• Get available actions: After dropping the file onto that area, Filepane automatically recognizes the file type and shows the most suitable actions for the current content.

Filepane provides a rich set of quick actions based on different file types:

• Image processing: Supports quick resizing, cropping, rotating, converting between multiple formats (PNG, JPEG, HEIC, WebP, TIFF, BMP), compressing images, and even setting them directly as desktop wallpaper.
• PDF files: Supports compressing PDFs, merging multiple PDF documents into one file, converting to images, and printing.
• Any file: Create ZIP archives (including password-protected ZIPs), rename files, quickly move or copy to common folders (for example, “Documents” or “Downloads”), and share via AirDrop, email, or social networks.
