Echo is a minimalist menu bar app that automatically records everything you play on your Mac, including music from Spotify, Apple Music, podcasts, and videos from YouTube and other websites. Echo’s most unique feature is that it not only saves your playback history, but also records the exact position (timecode) where you stopped playing. With just a keyboard shortcut, you can instantly resume any music, podcast, or video from where you left off, even if days have passed.

Unified Playback History
- Echo consolidates everything you listen to or watch into a unified timeline. Whether the content comes from native apps (Spotify, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts) or from YouTube, Spotify Web, SoundCloud in a browser, it can all be managed in one place.
- Longer playback records (such as a full music album) are automatically collapsed into a group to keep your history tidy.
Resume from the Exact Position
- This is Echo’s core feature: it not only records the media name, but also saves the timecode when playback stopped. Even if you close the video, shut down, or come back a day later, you can use the shortcut to continue watching or listening from the exact second you stopped.
- For video content, Echo provides a convenient Picture-in-Picture floating player that can be freely dragged around and automatically becomes semi-transparent, so it won’t interfere with your work.
Keyboard-First Operation
- Use a global shortcut to quickly summon the Echo floating window from any application.
- Filter playback history, search content, resume playback, and control playback speed, fast forward, pause, and more without touching the mouse.
- All common actions (⌘K) can be performed quickly, including pinning content, renaming, copying links with timecodes, and removing items from history.
Favorites and “Shelf”
- You can save your favorite moments with a button or a shortcut. Echo automatically saves the current clip and keeps an extra 10 seconds of preceding content.
- Unfinished videos and podcasts are automatically added to the Shelf tab so you can continue watching or listening later.
Daily Playback Visualization
- Echo displays the day’s playback record as a colorful audio waveform, with different colors representing different sources (music, podcasts, videos). You can intuitively see your media usage for the day and quickly jump to any playback segment.
Beautiful Interface Design
- Echo’s window automatically highlights itself using the dominant color of the currently playing song’s or video’s artwork, providing a more natural and comfortable visual experience. You can also manually set your favorite theme color.
